Abstract:

Seven of the eight oversized portraits in the Portrait File bear exhibition labels from London or San Francisco on verso. The subjects, followed by their Bancroft Portrait file numbers, are: Coolbrith, Ina Donna (17); McComas, Francis (1); Monterey, Charlotte [O'Neill] (1); Putnam, Arthur (2); Royce, Jonathan (1); Steffens, Lincoln (33); Youff, Ulv (1); Ysä ye, Eugène (3, copy 1).
